"I believe that when someone is equipped with knowledge, they feel more in control of their situation, are more likely to engage with others and so remain socially connected."

Clarissa started her career in Research and Development at CSIRO before transitioning to teaching Maths and Physics at high schools. She taught in Dalby, London, Scotland, and Spain before moving to Toowoomba in 2006, where she taught at both public and private schools. Her interest in audiology began when a family member experienced hearing difficulties.

Commuting from Toowoomba to Brisbane, she completed a 2 year Masters Degree in Audiology, demonstrating her commitment to improving lives through better communication. After working with large national audiology providers, Clarissa wanted to offer a more personalised approach to care, leading her to establish Darling Downs Audiology, combining her experiences in education and audiology.

Improving quality of lives through better communication has always been central to Clarissa's ethos.
